Ask Dr. Sex Man
I’m trying something new. I’m launching a YouTube channel called Ask Dr. Sex Man. Here’s why…
I got into the whole business of writing and talking about sexuality because I want to help young people work through really difficult questions of sexuality and faith. No pat answers. No hiding from difficult topics. And, for the love of all that’s good and pure, no being satisfied with, “Don’t do it!”
So, I want to try this for a while. I have a bank of questions from previous speaking engagements that I’ll start with. But, the hope is to begin fielding questions from watchers immediately via the YouTube comments and the Twitter account, @askdrsexman.
There are two videos up on the channel so far.
Episode 1: Why, Ask Dr. Sex Man?
Episode 2: Can ______ Go to Heaven?
My production gear and production value are frankly, pretty ghetto. I’m getting web and graphics design work done as we speak and I’m trying on upgrading my video gear. This has been burning inside of me for a while though, so I wanted to get started with the real work of walking through some of the most important questions about human experience and convincing a world full of young people that they are intentionally made and fiercely loved.
For those who decide to follow along, please understand these things…
- My target audience is teens and young adults who are wrestling with questions of faith and sexuality. Many of these people, I hope, will NOT be Christians, per se.
- This is NOT a heterosexual apologetics site. If you’re looking for that, please save yourself and the rest of us a lot of heartache and find another channel or start your own. I intend for this to be a safe place for any person to ask absolutely any question without ever feeling condemned or judged.
- I expect haters. I get that putting any ideas at all about faith and sexuality onto the interwebs is big, bright, neon sign saying, “Haters, please attack me!” I’m cool with that. I am decidedly NOT cool with anyone who wants to really explore a question being attacked. I’ll do everything I can to mediate this – which should be easier as http://www.askdrsexman.com gets up and running.
As my friends and readers, I would absolutely love for you to pass the word along to everyone you know that would be interested in this kind of conversation. And, SUBSCRIBE to the channel yourself. Thank you so very much for your support. More blog posts coming soon – I’ve been putting my available blogging time toward getting this off the ground the last couple weeks.
